On the afternoon of the 28th, the first day of 'Mama Awards' was held at Tokyo Dome, Japan. The first day was an awards ceremony held by fan voting and singer Jeon So Mi was the host. The highest honor of the day, 'Global Icon of the Year', was awarded to BTS. This is the 8th consecutive year BTS has won the Daesang award at the Mnet awards ceremony.

This year's best rookie group Zero Base received the 'Worldwide Fan's Choice' award along with the 'Favorite New Artist' award corresponding to the rookie award, becoming the only main character to win 2 Big wins as a rookie. RIIZE also received the 'Favorite New Artist' award along with Zero Base One.

The main award, 'Global Fan Choice', went to BTS, Zero Base One, Tomorrow by Together, Enhyphen, Lim Young Woong, ATEEZ, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids, Seventeen and Twice.

Legendary boy band TVXQ won the 'Inspirational Achievement' award given to a legendary artist who has inspired many other artists.

The '2023 Mama Awards' ceremony will be held on the second day at Tokyo Dome, Japan on the afternoon of the 29th.
