[The Fact | Reporter Jeong Byeong Geun] In January 2024, the fever of new K-pop groups will begin. The music industry is expected to heat up as next-generation global groups from Hype, SM Entertainment, and YG Entertainment will debut at the same time.
The first group to debut was TWS (Tours), a six-member boy group from Pledis Entertainment (hereinafter referred to as Pledis), a member of Hype Labels. Although the members' identities are still a secret, the management company is confident that they are "6 elite members with solid performance skills, the best image and music taste".
TWS is the new boy group announced by Pledis nine years after Seventeen's debut, and the group will release their debut album on January 22. Professional master Han Sung Soo, who trained Seventeen, After School, Orange Caramel and NU'EST, are responsible for direct production. TWS is expected to present natural and authentic music in its own genre called Boyhood Pop.
JYP Entertainment's new girl group VCHA will debut on January 26 next year. VCHA is a six-member group formed through a collaboration between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, a label under Universal Music.
The two companies selected Lexi Cage, Camilla, Savannah and Kaylee Kendall as members through the girl group debut project 'A2K' and will promote them mainly in the United States. The group's name was hand-picked by JYP Entertainment representative producer Park Jin Young with the meaning "to shine for fans and the world".
SM Entertainment also plans to launch a 6-member boy group in the first half of next year. They are called NCT NEW TEAM (tentative name). Members include Shion, Riku, Yuushi, Daeyoung, Ryo, Sakuya.
They came together through their debut survival show 'NCT Universe: LASTART'. NCT NEW TEAM is a group that operates based on a promotional strategy in Japan. They also held a pre-debut tour lasting 24 shows in 9 cities in Japan. They are the last group under the name NCT.
In addition to major entertainment companies, Howling Entertainment's Waker, Sure Place's The Genius and Eden Entertainment's All (H)Ours are expected to debut next year.
