A representative of Big Hit Music told <The Fact> on the 9th, "We provided evidence to the operator of 'The Camp' last month that they violated the right of publicity by using the image and BTS's name without the permission of BTS and the management company.
He then explained: “We plan to strengthen oversight at the agency level and take strict action against violations of publicity rights and their commercial use, which the public The company and the artists have invested a lot of capital and effort."
'The Camp' provides communications for the Armed Forces through a service that allows letters of comfort to be sent to enlisted cadets, including family and acquaintances, through mobile applications and webpage.
Recently, 'The Camp' has been operating a private community for each member using IP (intellectual property) containing BTS's images and names. The word 'official' was added and the commercial channel The Camp Mall sold 'Millirang Dolls' under BTS's name.
The right of publicity refers to the right to allow the use of an individual's attributes, such as likeness, name and voice, for advertising purposes such as products and is also known as the right to use likeness. In response, Big Hit Music sent a statement to 'The Camp' claiming violation of publicity rights.
Regarding this, 'The Camp' has deleted posts related to BTS and currently has no official statement.
