[The FactㅣIntern reporter Choi Soo Bin] NewJeans has set a joint record as the longest-running K-pop girl group on the main US Billboard album chart.
On the 23rd (local time), on the latest US Billboard chart (as of January 27), New Jeans' (Minji, Hanni, Daniel, Haerin and Hyein) second mini album 'Get Up' was released. ranked number 197 on the 'Billboard 200'. This album entered the ‘Billboard 200’ at number one on August 5 last year and successfully stayed on the chart for 26 consecutive weeks.
With this, NewJeans has continuously broken the record for being the 4th generation K-pop group with the longest charting period on the 'Billboard 200' chart, and also set a record for having the longest charting period compared to of any K-pop girl group in history, just 1 year and 6 months after debut. Previously, BLACKPINK's first full album 'THE ALBUM', released in October 2020, stayed on the chart for 26 weeks.
The title song "Super Shy" of the EP "Get Up" also shows its influence on global charts. The song ranked No. 79 in the 'Global (excluding US)' and No. 121 in the 'Global 200' this week, remaining on both charts for 28 consecutive weeks. 'ETA', another theme song of 'Get Up', ranked 154th in 'Global (excluding US)'.
New Jeans' previous works also appeared on the chart. 'Ditto' ranked 184th in 'Global 200' and 94th in 'Global (excluding US)', charting for a total of 57 weeks. 'OMG' ranked 93rd and 179th in 'Global (excluding US)' and 'Global 200' respectively.
NewJeans was nominated for awards in two categories 'Kpop Song of the Year' and 'Best New Kpop Artist' at the '2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards 2024' to be held in the US on April 1.
