[The Fact | [Reporter Jeong Byeong-geun] Director Hong Sang-soo won the Grand Jury Prize at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival for his new film 'A Traveller's Need'.
The 74th Berlin International Film Festival awards ceremony was held in Berlin, Germany on the 25th (KST). Director Hong Sang-soo won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize for his film ‘A Traveller’s Need’. The Silver Bear Jury Award is the second most prestigious award in the competition category of the Berlin International Film Festival after the Golden Bear.
Director Hong stepped up to the podium and said, "Thank you, jury. I don't know what they saw in my movie. I'm so curious," making the audience laugh.
Director Hong won the Silver Bear again after two years. He received this award in 2022 for ‘Novelist's Film’. Director Hong has competed seven times at the Berlin International Film Festival and set a record of winning the Silver Bear award five times.
Previously, among his works, 'On the beach at night alone', his lover, actress Kim Min-hee, won the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress at the Federation 67th Berlin International Film Festival, and subsequently, 'The Woman Who Ran' won the Silver Bear Award for Best Actress. 'A Traveler's Needs' depicts the story of Iris (Isabel Huppert), a woman from France, who teaches French to Song (Kim Seung-yoon) and Won-ju (Lee Hye-young) and lives in Korea in when drinking makgeolli.
