[The Fact|Reporter Choi Moon-jeong] 'K-occult' Exhuma became the first '10 million movie' of the year of the Dragon.
According to distributor Showbox on the 24th, Exhuma has surpassed 10 million cumulative viewers as of this morning, 32 days after its release on February 22. It has been three months since the director's film "Spring in Seoul" Kim Seong-soo surpassed 10 million cumulative viewers on December 24 last year.
Since its release, Exhuma has topped the box office for 31 consecutive days without missing a single day.
The movie depicts the strange story told by shamans Hwarim (Kim Go-eun) and Bong-gil (Lee Do-hyun), feng shui master Sang-deok (Choi Min-sik) and Yeong-geun (Yoo Hae-jin) must dig up the grave of a rich ancestor in exchange for a large sum of money.
Exhuma succeeded at the box office thanks to director Jang Jae-hyun and actors who made 'K-occult' films such as 'Black Priests' (2015) and 'Sabaha' (2019). When the number of viewers exceeded 10 million, it ranked first, surpassing 'The Wailing' (6.87 million viewers), which was previously the top mystery genre film in the country.
