The animation film 'The First Slam Dunk' (directed by Takehiko Inoue) will be released exclusively on Disney+ on June 10. Expectations are high as the work, which gained popularity by attracting 4.87 million viewers after its domestic release last year, can now be enjoyed in home theaters.
'The First Slam Dunk' is a new film based on the popular animation 'Slam Dunk' and depicts the dreams, passion, and never-ending challenges of the five members of the Buksan High School basketball team who dream of winning the national championship.
The work is centered on the round of 32 match between the basketball teams of Kanagawa Prefecture's representative Buksan High School and Ikita Prefecture's representative Sanwang Technical High School, which participated in the National High School Basketball Championship. In particular, this game scene was completed using 3D and CG animation techniques to capture the thrill and realism of a real basketball game, from the facial expressions that clearly convey the emotions of the characters.
In addition, as Takehiko Inoue, the original author of 'Slam Dunk', directly participated in directing and writing, it delivers even more special enjoyment by including behind-the-scenes stories that were not seen in the original and a new appearance of guard Song Tae-seop.
The trailer released together with Song Tae-seop's narration, "The only thing I could rely on and lean on was basketball," and goes from his childhood to his growth as a member of the Buksan High School basketball team, leaving a special impression.
In addition, as Mr. Ahn said, “This is Tae-seop’s stage,” the narrative of Song Tae-seop, who had a complex about being short but overcame it with his passion for basketball and infinite effort, is intact and touches the hearts of fans.
‘The First Slam Dunk’ can be viewed on Disney+ starting June 10.
