[The Fact | Reporter Kim Saet Byul] BTS member Jimin, during his military service, donated scholarship money to support students in the struggling Gyeongsangnam area.
On the 30th of this month, the Gyeongsangnam Provincial Department of Education announced that Jimin's father revealed his intention to donate 100 million won in scholarship money on behalf of his son on the 20th and transferred the scholarship on that day.
Jimin's father is said to have said, "I will give scholarship money to students in Gyeongsangnam Province who are having difficulty."
An official from the Department of Education of this province said: "Even though Jimin spent time studying in Busan and has no direct connection to Gyeongsangnam Province, we understand that he donated for pure purposes." It's all about helping students in the province." and "We are grateful for the warmth he shared to facilitate the children's future."
The scholarship money is expected to be used through the Future Education Fund of Gyeongsangnam Province to provide financial resources for students from low-income families and to support their participation in later social life.
In addition to the Gyeongsangnam Provincial Department of Education, Jimin also donated 100 million won each to Busan, Jeollanam, Gangwon and Chungbuk provinces to support the studies of students in difficulty.
Jimin enlisted in the army last December and is currently serving in the Army Soldiers' Regiment. Currently, all members of the BTS group are serving in the military and the group's oldest brother, Jin, is expected to be discharged on June 12.
