Hani's actions seem to be the aftermath of the death of a patient at the hospital of her prospective groom Yang Jae Woong, who is getting married in September. This started when it was revealed that a woman in her 30s, Ms. A, died at a psychiatric hospital run by Yang Jae Woong in July.

At the time, Ms. A was admitted to the hospital for treatment of addiction to diet pills containing narcotics and died 17 days later on May 27. The cause of death is believed to be pseudo-intestinal obstruction. Mr. A's bereaved family filed a criminal complaint against Yang Jae-woong and other medical staff for abandonment and negligent homicide and filed a petition with the National Human Rights Commission.

As the video spread, criticism of Yang Jae-woong continued, and he eventually apologized through his agency, Mystic Story, saying, "First of all, regarding the incident that occurred during the hospitalization process, I and the entire medical staff cannot hide our heartbreaking feelings, and we sincerely apologize to the bereaved family who are grieving the loss of the deceased and their family." Yang Jae-woong continued, "We are taking this incident very seriously. The hospital is doing its best to cooperate with external organizations, including providing CCTV footage that contains the medical charts and the situation at the time, for the ongoing investigation. He also asked, "Since the specific details of the deceased's treatment process and the incident that occurred are currently under investigation, we ask that you refrain from speculative articles and sensational reports about the treatment process."

He then bowed his head, saying, "Not only I, the hospital director, but all medical staff will cooperate with the investigation going forward as much as possible and faithfully participate, and we will take responsibility according to the medical and legal judgments made accordingly."

Hani and Yang Jae-woong began dating publicly in 2022, and announced on SNS in May that they would be getting married in September.
