[The Fact | Reporter Jeong Byeong-geun] Girls Generation Taeyeon had a special collaboration with British singer Sam Smith, who is celebrating his 10th debut anniversary.
Taeyeon sang the remix version of 'I'm Not The Only One' from Sam Smith's deluxe album 'In The Lonely Hour 10th Anniversary Edition (Deluxe)' to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his debut, and the song was released on the 29th at 6 PM, drawing attention from global fans.
This collaboration came about when Sam Smith, who is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut, first suggested the idea of a new version with Korean lyrics to Taeyeon to repay the love Korean fans have sent him. Sam Smith said, "I'm so grateful that a multi-talented performer like Taeyeon participated in this project and presented such amazing vocals."
Taeyeon participated as a representative of Korea, following Japanese national singer Utada Hikaru, Spanish Aitana, and Brazilian dancer and singer IZA, who previously collaborated with Sam Smith as representatives of each country.
Taeyeon said, "It is a great honor to be able to share his musical talent and passion through this collaboration with world-renowned singer Sam Smith," adding, "It was a new and special experience to sing 'I'm Not The Only One' in Korean, which I usually enjoy listening to. I hope this song will resonate with and comfort many people."
Taeyeon is a representative vocalist of Korea with unrivaled vocals and outstanding skills through her activities as a member of Girls' Generation and as a solo artist, and recently showed off her refreshing vocal charm with her new song 'Heaven'. The title song 'To. X' from her fifth mini-album, released last year, is still ranked high on major music charts. She is also active in a wide range of fields such as entertainment, MC, and OST.
