[The Fact | Reporter Shin Jinhwan] Lee Hongki, a member of the band group FT Island, is causing controversy by defending Choi Minhwan, who has been accused of prostitution.
On the 26th, Lee Hongki posted a comment on the fan community platform Weverse, saying, "If it's not prostitution, can you take responsibility for what you just said?" showing his unpleasant feelings.
This is a criticism of a netizen who criticized, "They even launched an investigation into the suspicion of prostitution, so I don't know what more I have to wait for." Currently, Lee Hong-ki's comment has been deleted.
Earlier, on the 25th, Lee Hong-ki posted on Weverse, "It was their private life and it ended up like this. They should admit their mistakes and bow their heads in apology. But we all shouldn't believe everything so easily," defending Choi Min-hwan. After the controversy arose, he deleted the post.
The suspicion of Choi Min-hwan's prostitution began with the revelations of Yulhee, a former member of the group Laboum and Choi Min-hwan's ex-wife.
On the 24th, Yulhee claimed on her personal YouTube channel that Choi Min-hwan visited adult entertainment establishments and engaged in prostitution during their marriage. She also released a recording containing the circumstances of him visiting adult entertainment establishments.
The released recording contains a man presumed to be Choi Min-hwan talking on the phone with a man who appears to be an entertainment establishment employee in 2022, saying things like "Ten" (high-class entertainment establishment) and "Miss Choice."
Yulhee claimed that Choi Min-hwan touched her body in front of her family and even stuck money in her chest when drunk, saying, "These acts were a habit." It seems that Choi Min-hwan did the same things to himself as he did to the entertainment establishment employees.
As the controversy grew after Yulhee's revelation, Choi Min-hwan's agency FNC Entertainment stated on the 25th, "Choi Min-hwan feels responsible for disappointing the public and viewers," and "He plans to stop all media activities, including broadcasts with his children."
Choi Min-hwan and Yulhee, who got married in 2018 and have one son and two daughters, announced their divorce in December of last year. Choi Min-hwan, who has custody of three children, has been appearing on KBS 2TV's parenting entertainment program 'The Return of Superman' since March.
