[The Fact | Reporter Jung Byung-geun] Girl group aespa will bring the song 'Whiplash' with a different 'taste of steel'.
SM Entertainment announced on March 24, "The English version of the title track 'Whiplash' from aespa's 5th mini album, released in October last year, will be officially released at 1 p.m. on March 27. This English version will bring a different appeal compared to the original."
In addition, a remix version of "Whiplash" by world-famous DJ and producer Steve Aoki will also be released at the same time. SM said, "Escaping from the strong sound of the original, the remix with Steve Aoki's signature Tech House style will help listeners feel the unique voices of aespa members in a completely new style."
"Whiplash" is a dance song characterized by a strong, intense bass and a fast-paced house rhythm. The lyrics express aespa's confidence and charisma as they break the mold, not afraid to step forward according to their own standards and measures, changing the landscape wherever they appear. The minimalist arrangement along with the catchy topline is expressed through the members' cool and individual voices.
On the first day of its release, "Whiplash" debuted at No. 53 on the world's largest music platform Spotify, once again affirming aespa's global power. The English version, which is more accessible to international fans, and the new remix are also expected to receive positive feedback.
