[The Fact | Reporter Jung Byung-geun] JYP Entertainment (JYP) has donated 5 billion KRW (about 3.7 million USD) to help residents and children affected by the severe wildfire in the Gyeongnam-Gyeongbuk region of South Korea.
On March 27, JYP announced that they had donated the money through World Vision and shared, "We express our deepest condolences to those who lost their homes due to the sudden wildfire. We hope that this support can help residents and children in the affected areas find hope and return to normal life soon."
The donation will be used to support approximately 10,000 people affected by the Uiseong and Sancheong wildfires, including emergency supplies (blankets, personal items), temporary living expenses, support for purchasing household items, as well as programs to help children and residents recover mentally.
Previously, JYP also donated 3 billion KRW in March 2022 to support victims of the large forest fire in the Gangwon - Gyeongbuk region, and 5 billion KRW in February 2023 to support people and children affected by the earthquake in Türkiye - Syria.

Meanwhile, the forest fire that broke out in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk on March 22 spread due to strong winds, affecting Andong, Cheongsong, Yeongyang, Yeongdeok and neighboring areas, with a total damaged area of up to 26,000 hectares. As of 4 p.m. on March 26, 24 people had died, 12 were seriously injured, and 14 were slightly injured.
