[The Fact | Reporter Jeong Byeong-geun] J-Hope – a member of BTS – has just become the first Korean male solo artist to appear on the cover of the prestigious music magazine Billboard Magazine (USA).
On May 20 (local time), Billboard Magazine announced the cover photo of the May issue with J-Hope as the main character on the official website and social network. In the series of photos, J-Hope shows a confident and sophisticated demeanor. In the accompanying interview, he shared: “This is just the beginning. I will continue to experiment more with music.”
J-Hope is the first Korean male solo artist to appear on the cover of Billboard. BTS previously appeared in special issues in 2018 and August 2021. The magazine commented: “J-Hope has long attracted attention with his overwhelming stage presence and captivating performances. He has played a key role in making BTS a global star.”
In an interview accompanying the photoshoot, J-Hope confided: “Just like I was inspired by the artists I loved when I was young, I also want my music to be a source of positive energy for someone. I want to be an artist who can spread light and courage wherever I go.”
J-Hope was directly involved in the entire process of designing the stage, choreography, costumes and props for the ‘HOPE ON THE STAGE’ world tour, showing his authenticity and individuality. He said: “I will continue to perform stages that connect everyone through the power of music.”
