Scene in debut MV 'F Girl' criticized for being sexually suggestive

[The Fact | Reporter Jung Byung-geun] Girl group Baby DONT Cry will remove the scene that was criticized as offensive in the MV teaser from the official version of their debut MV.
On June 23, management company P NATION posted an official announcement on social media: “We have noted the concerns and debates from fans and the public regarding the MV teaser for ‘F Girl’. We sincerely apologize to those who felt uncomfortable or worried because of the content of the video.” At the same time, we also announced: “We have decided to remove the controversial scene from the official MV.”
Previously, Baby DONT Cry released many contents such as the introduction video of each member and the teaser MV ‘F Girl’. After that, some netizens criticized some scenes in the video as provocative. The fact that the three members Kumi, Mia, Benny are all minors (except Hyun, who was born in 2006) also sparked more controversy.
Regarding this issue, P NATION explained: “The opening scene of the teaser MV ‘F Girl’ with the image of ‘chewing gum’, ‘sucking candy’ is intended to express rebellion and fun, there is absolutely no provocative or erotic element in the overall content of the official MV.”
However, the company said: “Regardless of the reason, in order to prevent misunderstandings and controversies, we decided to remove the scene from the main MV. This decision was made to protect the members and respect the valuable opinions of fans.”
The company also mentioned the cherry image that appeared in the content. P NATION said: “Because the members’ image fits well with the cherry – small but strong in color, we chose cherry as the group’s symbol. Cherry has always been a positive image in many global contents and brands, and there has never been any negative intention or implication associated with this symbol.”
Finally, the company affirmed: “Baby DONT Cry are the most precious people to the entire production team and need to be protected. We hope that the members’ sweat and efforts will touch the hearts of fans, so that their dreams can shine. We will do our best to make Baby DONT Cry’s journey from now on a bright, healthy, and joyful journey for fans.”
Baby DONT Cry is P NATION’s first girl group, and has also attracted attention with the participation of Jeon Soyeon (member of (G)I-DLE).
They will officially debut at 6pm on June 23 (KST) with the song ‘F Girl’.
