[The Fact | Reporter Kim Myung-joo] Singer Jessi, who was embroiled in controversy for allegedly ignoring a fan assault, has announced that she will officially return to the music scene.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Jessi posted a moving teaser revealing her comeback through her official social media channels and YouTube.
In the released teaser, an analog TV appears with the red text “NEWSFLASH” – signaling that breaking news has just been broadcast. Immediately after that, the words “JESSI” and the date “2025.06.27” appeared at the bottom of the screen, confirming that the new song will be officially released on the 27th.
This is Jessi’s comeback after about 8 months since she was involved in a scandal about ignoring violence against fans. The incident occurred in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, when an underage fan asked to take a photo with Jessi, but was attacked by the person accompanying her. Although Jessi is said to have stopped the incident, she then left the scene.
The victim later filed a complaint with the police for assault against a total of 4 people, including Jessi and the group of people accompanying her. Jessi appeared at the police station to investigate the allegations of threatening, hiding, and helping the suspect escape, but was eventually declared innocent and the case was not prosecuted. The police representative said at the time: “There is no evidence that Jessi participated in the assault or threat of the victim, nor is there any basis to conclude that she helped the suspect escape.”
After the incident, Jessi also terminated her contract with the management company DOD and suspended all artistic activities.
Before suspending her activities, Jessi was famous for her strong and individual musical style. She debuted in 2005 under the stage name Jessica H.O and joined the hip-hop group Uptown in 2006 as a guest member. After that, she worked solo and made her mark with a series of hits such as “NUNU NANA”, “What Type of X”, “ZOOM”… Not only that, Jessi also attracted attention when participating in popular entertainment programs such as “Hangout with Yoo” and “Sixth Sense” with her straightforward and individualistic way of talking.
