Singer Lim Young-woong is making a comeback with a regular album after 3 years and 2 months. He will release his second regular album ’I’m Hero 2’ on August 29. This album will include various genres such as ballad, trot, hip-hop, dance, and folk, aiming to expand his musical spectrum.
The news of Lim Young-woong’s comeback is attracting attention due to its bold decision. His agency, Mulgoji Music, has decided not to release a physical CD for the second regular album. Instead, they will release an album book containing Lim Young-woong’s photo shoots. This decision creates a situation where the absence of a physical CD could disadvantage him in achieving record sales, as it would not be included in the initial sales counts.
Lim Young-woong holds impressive records in both digital and album sales as a solo artist. His first regular album ’I’m Hero,’ released in May 2022, recorded 1.1 million copies in initial sales, ranking fifth in the all-time initial sales for male solo artists as of July 31, 2025. Given these achievements, his latest decision is garnering even more attention.
The agency stated, ″This was a decision made after long discussions and deep contemplation with Lim Young-woong.″ They explained that they deeply empathized with the artist’s sincere intentions. It is reported that Lim Young-woong made this decision considering the burden on fans to purchase many albums for sales figures and the environmental issues surrounding excessive album purchases by K-pop fans to boost sales.
The album book that Lim Young-woong will sell instead of a CD will include photos related to the second album, album credits, and messages directly from him. He plans to convey even deeper sincerity to his fans through the album book. As he releases a regular album for the first time in three years, interest is focused on Lim Young-woong’s musical return with this new format of content that includes digital music and an album book instead of a CD.
