KBS Immortal Rock Festival draws 6,000 spectators in Ulsan


KBS2’s ″Immortal Songs: Rock Festival in Ulsan″ aired on August 2nd. This special featured dazzling performances by leading Korean rock artists, including Kim Chang-wan Band, Jeon In-kwon Band, Seo Moon-tak, Cherry Filter, FT Island, Jannabi, and Touched. The first part featured Seo Moon-tak, Jannabi, Cherry Filter, FT Island, and Jeon In-kwon Band, performing across generations. The 6,000-strong audience added to the excitement.

Seo Moon-tak began the show with the aspiration, ″I will grind my bones.″ He opened powerfully with ″Samiingok,″ followed by a reinterpretation of Sinawe’s ″Turn on the Radio″ (Singapore), showcasing his explosive vocals. The audience roared with Seo Moon-tak’s vocal prowess and enjoyed the start of the show. Jannabi’s Choi Jung-hoon appeared as the first special MC and expressed his determination, saying, ″This is the stage, and I will make it fun.″ Despite the tension, he performed yoga moves, drawing laughter from the audience.

Jannabi continued their set with ″We Who Have Green″ (초록을거머준우리). The refreshing youthful sound of the song added to the summer heat and connected with the audience. Choi Jung-hoon said, ″I hope you remember today, when we came out to enjoy the excitement of a rock festival on a hot day.″ Jannabi delivered a deeply moving performance through the sensibility of rock. Cherry Filter heightened the mood with the nationally acclaimed song ″Ori Nalda,″ leading the audience into a sing-along. Jo Yu-jin commented, ″The charm of a rock festival lies in the simultaneous release of this heat and madness.″

FT Island thrilled the audience with their entrance with ″THUNDERSTORM.″ Lee Hong-ki, accompanied by a parade of bikes, set the audience’s hearts racing. FT Island continued their medley with ″Champagne,″ ″Barae,″ and ″Freedom,″ and the audience roared along, captivated by their immersion. The concert’s excitement was further heightened with a tribute performance to Jeon In-kwon and the encore song ″Love Sickness.″

The Jeon In-kwon Band opened the stage with ″Don’t Worry, You.″ Jeon In-kwon’s voice resonated deeply, and during ″Dolgo Dolgo Dolgo,″ he united with the audience, sending shivers down his spine. As the final song, ″March,″ resonated, the concert hall erupted into a frenzy. The entire audience stomped their feet and waved their hands, marking the climax of the rock festival.

The first part of ″Immortal Songs: Rock Festival in Ulsan″ featured Seo Moon-tak, Jannabi, Cherry Filter, FT Island, and the Jeon In-kwon Band, each showcasing their own unique style and connecting with the audience, showcasing the true essence of a rock festival. From start to finish, the performance evoked a constant stream of cheers and sing-alongs.
