Singer BoA has cleared up misunderstandings about SM Entertainment’s project girl group GOT the Beat. In the sixth episode of the YouTube channel ″Bob Sa Hyo 2,″ released on the 6th, BoA discussed her recently released 11th full-length album, ″Crazier.″ MC Hyoyeon mentioned her experience promoting with BoA, saying that BoA meticulously monitors her movements. BoA expressed her anxiety, saying, ″I’m so nervous.″
Hyoyeon asked BoA if this was her first time promoting with a group, and BoA replied, ″I’ve never experienced moving around before,″ expressing the challenges of dancing solo. BoA expressed her frustration over the constant mistakes, saying, ″Because the movements are different, sometimes I go this way (left) and sometimes this way (right), and I mix up my choreography a lot.″
Hyoyeon mentioned that BoA had been curious about group promotions while watching Girls’ Generation. BoA drew laughter when she said, ″I was curious, but I guess I don’t have to.″ She then addressed the misconception that God the Beat was her fault, stating, ″That’s absolutely not true. I kept running away, saying I didn’t want to do it either.″ BoA confessed, ″I actually sent her a message saying, ’I don’t think I belong here,’ but then all the hateful comments started coming out...″
When Hyoyeon asked about the malicious comments, BoA confessed, ″There were a lot,″ and confessed her frustration. Hyoyeon consoled BoA, saying, ″I had no idea.″ BoA then expressed her distress, saying, ″I’m getting criticized even after doing it.″
God the Beat is the first project unit comprised entirely of female artists under SM Entertainment. It garnered significant attention for being BoA’s first group activity, featuring members with diverse experience, and being a performance-based unit with individual expertise. Their debut song ″Step Back″ was first revealed at ″SMTOWN LIVE 2022: SMCU Express@Gwangya″ on January 1, 2022, and also performed well on music charts. They then released their first mini-album ″Stamp On It″ in January 2023.
