Girl group IVE is embracing a bold transformation with their ″Evil Cupid″ concept. On the 8th, Starship Entertainment unveiled the trailer for their fourth mini-album, ″IVE SECRET,″ on IVE’s official YouTube channel. This trailer marks a significant departure from IVE’s usual bright and lovable image, offering a sophisticated reinterpretation that has excited fans both in South Korea and around the world.
In the trailer, the six members of IVE take on the roles of distinct Cupids, each harboring their own secrets. They engage in striking visuals, dropping tumblers, crossing their fingers, and revealing revolvers hidden in ″CUPID’S GUIDEBOOK,″ all of which contribute to a chilling atmosphere. The members’ actions, illuminated by natural daylight, symbolically unveil Cupid’s darker side, creating a palpable tension.
Midway through the video, Ahn Yu-jin shifts the mood as he observes a couple’s altercation on closed-circuit television (CCTV). He responds to a notification indicating a need for quick action, showcasing a more assertive side. The other members also reveal their ″Evil Cupid″ personas, contrasting their innocent image with striking actions, such as aiming a revolver at a unicorn and setting paper cranes ablaze.
As the video concludes, IVE appears shrouded in darkness, clad in black outfits. Surrounded by the glowing eyes of numerous goats, they vanish with massive black wings, amplifying anticipation for their comeback with an intensity never seen before.
The trailer also teases excerpts from the album, including the lyrics, ″Lifting the veil, a secret myth / Good and evil coexist, right on my face,″ which enhance the overall mood. Set for release on the 25th, ″IVE SECRET″ promises to break away from predictable narratives, revealing hidden attitudes and multifaceted identities. Through the title track ″XOXZ″ and other songs, IVE explores the coexistence of conflicting emotions such as internal versus external, good versus evil, and pride versus mischief within the group.
