Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu’s ESG Campaign Inspires the World

TWICE’s Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu are making strides toward a more inclusive world through their heartfelt initiatives. In 2023, JYP Entertainment launched the ″JYP 4 EARTH″ campaign as part of its ESG management efforts. This initiative encourages JYP artists to participate in activities that promote sustainability and share positive messages.

Last year, 2PM’s Jun. K, Nichkhun, and Wooyoung, along with ITZY, took part in the campaign, while this year, TWICE’s Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu have stepped into the spotlight. They showcased their efforts in the ″A World Where Diversity is Respected″ video, which was released on JYP’s official YouTube channel on July 31 and August 7. This video is part of JYP’s flagship CSR project, ″EDM (Every Dream Matters!),″ highlighting a picture book creation project for children with cancer that began in 2022.

The picture book features characters with various disabilities living in harmony, encouraging reflection on the importance of respect and understanding. Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu met with Lee Hyun-jung, CEO of Books International, to discuss the emotional impact of picture books, the countries where they are published, and the significance of using native languages for children with disabilities.

In their efforts to support children with disabilities, they read aloud and contributed to a Tagalog picture book for children in the Philippines. Through traditional decorations and illustrations, they crafted a unique book that reflects their commitment. The trio also delved into the characteristics of four types of disabilities: physical, hearing, developmental, and visual impairments. Guided by Yoo In-sun from the Disability Rights Research Institute, they learned about assistive devices and various communication methods.

They highlighted the importance of language, pointing out that terms like ″computer disability,″ ″system failure,″ and ″choice disability″ can create negative perceptions of disability.

As they wrapped up their activities, Nayeon, Momo, and Tzuyu expressed their joy in providing emotional support through the picture books they created. They emphasized the importance of recognizing our shared existence in society, despite differences. They believe that a more compassionate world can be achieved through understanding and consideration, and they realized the value of cherishing and loving oneself as unique individuals.

This year marks TWICE’s 10th debut anniversary, celebrated with a range of activities. They released their fourth full-length album, ″This Is For,″ on July 11 and kicked off their sixth world tour in Incheon on July 19 and 20. Additionally, they headlined the prestigious Lollapalooza Chicago music festival in Grant Park, Illinois, on August 2, further establishing their status as a leading global girl group.
