SEVENTEEN, currently serving as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors, has made a significant donation. Their agency, Pledis Entertainment, announced that SEVENTEEN donated $250,000 (approximately 346 million won) from the charity auction for ″JUPITER Presents: Sacai x SEVENTEEN″ to UNESCO in celebration of World Youth Day on the 12th. This donation will strengthen the Global Youth Grant Scheme, a collaborative initiative between SEVENTEEN and UNESCO.
″JUPITER Presents: Sacai x SEVENTEEN″ is a limited-edition collection launched in June in partnership with the fashion brand sacai. This collection was developed alongside JOOPITER, a digital commerce platform founded by renowned artist and producer Pharrell Williams. The collection featured leather jackets crafted by the members and t-shirts with their autographs, garnering considerable attention. Additionally, limited edition items featuring the popular character Labubu, created by Kasing Lung, and necklaces designed by Yoon Ahn were also available.
SEVENTEEN expressed through Pledis, ″Since our debut, we have grown by expressing the diverse moments of youth through music that reflects honest experiences and emotions, making World Youth Day particularly meaningful for us.″ They added, ″We send a message of support to all young people around the world who are pursuing their dreams.″
In 2023, SEVENTEEN became the first K-pop artists invited to the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where they delivered speeches and performed. Last year, they were appointed as UNESCO’s first Youth Goodwill Ambassadors and donated $1 million to the organization. This funding is aimed at promoting creativity and well-being among young people globally, supporting self-directed projects by 100 youth groups for a brighter future.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN is set to kick off their ″SEVENTEEN World Tour [NEW]″ with concerts at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on September 13th and 14th. They will then perform at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on September 27th and 28th, followed by shows in five US cities in October and four major Japanese domes in November and December.
