
G-Dragon of BIGBANG recently celebrated the group’s 19th debut anniversary. On August 19th, he shared a photo on social media featuring a crosswalk with the words ″BIGBANG (B19 BANG),″ symbolizing the band’s impressive journey over nearly two decades.
Since their debut in 2006, BIGBANG has made a significant impact on K-pop, delivering numerous hits like ″Lies,″ ″Majimak Farewell,″ ″Haru Haru,″ ″Sunset Glow,″ ″Fantastic Baby,″ and ″Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter.″ The group is known for its musical versatility, exploring genres such as hip-hop, R&B, and electronic dance music. BIGBANG has also set a precedent for K-pop idols by taking control of their music production and reducing their dependence on management agencies.

Another member, Seungri, was implicated in the Burning Sun scandal in 2019, which led to his exit from the group and retirement from the entertainment scene. He received a prison sentence of one year and six months for various criminal charges and plans to explore opportunities abroad after serving his time. Seungri faced criticism for suggesting he would invite G-Dragon to perform at a club in Cambodia.
Currently, the remaining members—G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung—are promoting as a trio. They frequently showcase their camaraderie by guesting at each other’s concerts and collaborating on content. Discussions are underway for a full group promotion to mark their 20th anniversary.
