Dragon Pony’s touching tribute performance with Sunwoo Jung-ah

Singer Kim Jo-han offered heartfelt advice to emerging artists during the 10th episode of Mnet’s ″Live Wire,″ which aired on August 22nd. The episode featured performances from Dragon Pony, Sunwoo Jung-a, Kim Jo-han, and Kim Feel, showcasing a musical connection that transcends generations.

Rookie band Dragon Pony kicked off the show with an energetic performance of their self-composed song ″Earth Boy.″ They expressed their passion for music, crediting the feedback from their seniors during their trainee days for their growth. The band also performed a tribute song for the two MCs, ″I Want to Call You Hyung,″ which resonated deeply with the audience. MC Jung Jae-hyung humorously remarked, ″It’s touching. It’s about remembering the day I bought you meat,″ eliciting laughter from the crowd.

Dragon Pony then nominated Sunwoo Jung-a as the next featured artist. Sunwoo dominated the stage with her performances of ″Runaway″ and her new song ″Saline.″ The band shared their admiration for her, stating, ″This is the song I listened to the most when times were tough.″ Sunwoo expressed her support for her juniors, noting, ″Since they were Antenna’s first band, I’ve always been watching them.″ When Dragon Pony rearranged her song ″Explode″ as a tribute, Sunwoo was visibly moved, saying, ″You arranged it so beautifully. I wish I had given you this song.″

The musical connection continued as Sunwoo nominated Kim Jo-han. He performed his signature songs ″I Want to Fall in Love″ and ″I’m Sorry That Love Is Late,″ showcasing his powerful vocals. In response to Sunwoo’s comment about wanting to see him on stage, he revealed, ″I’ve been making albums for about eight years now. But trends change so quickly. I’ll work hard and finish by the end of this year.″

Kim Jo-han shared his experience of being credited for the animated film ″K-Pop Demon Hunters″ and performed the OST ″Soda Pop,″ displaying his unwavering energy. Sunwoo recounted an anecdote about a junior who once knelt before her, asking to be taken as her disciple. She was surprised when Paul Kim later revealed on TV that he was that man.

Sunwoo expressed her admiration for Kim Jo-han, saying, ″I’m curious about how your pure energy remains undiminished.″ He offered sincere advice, stating, ″Being a singer is a journey that is bound to be painful, but the greatest reward is when you empower someone through your music. You can draw strength from that and move forward.″ Sunwoo responded, ″Usually, when you say ’protecting,’ it implies hiding or being stubborn, but I was deeply touched when you said the exact opposite.″

The final artist to perform was Kim Feel, who took the stage with ″Excuse,″ the title track from his first full-length album, showcasing his unique vocal range. Kim Jo-han praised him, saying, ″I think Kim Feel is the John Mayer of Korea. He’s even better at singing.″ The two delivered a moving duet of ″Holding the End of This Night,″ with Kim Feel expressing his admiration, stating, ″I nurtured my dreams listening to his music. I’ve even covered his songs.″

Kim Feel also surprised the audience with a pre-release of Kim Kwang-seok’s ″Love That Hurts Too Much Wasn’t Love″ and his new song ″Happy End,″ set to release on September 8th. The show concluded with Kim Jo-han performing ″A Match Made in Heaven,″ featuring rapper Raewon, which elicited enthusiastic cheers from the audience.
