Lim Young-woong went on a healing trip to Somodo Island in Wando County. On SBS's new variety show "Island Bachelor Young-woong," Lim Young-woong transformed into a "pollution-free island bachelor," showcasing a new charm. The first episode recorded a nationwide household viewership rating of 5.3%, generating significant buzz.
Lim Young-woong traveled with "science (crazy) guy" Gwido and "iron lunchbox chef" Chef Lim Tae-hoon. The three, who know each other's true selves well, explained the reason for the trip as wanting "to go somewhere remote together and seriously share both difficult and good stories."
To start the trip, the three set off early in the morning. Preparing to take the first boat to the island, they expressed both surprise and excitement at the fact that they would have to be self-sufficient in an environment without supermarkets, convenience stores, or restaurants. Gwido tried to start a science talk, but Lim Young-woong joked, "The science talk will be edited out, so it's okay," maintaining a friendly atmosphere.
Looking out at the sea from the boat, Lim Young-woong recalled, "I used to attend many cruise events during my unknown days. It brings back a lot of memories." After arriving on the island, the three struggled with steep slopes and stairways but couldn't help but admire the view in front of the house, which faced the sea directly. The island residents warmly welcomed Lim Young-woong and approached him.
As the schedule became tiring, the three decided to rest. Lim Young-woong said, "I usually have trouble falling asleep, but here, my mind was at ease, and I fell asleep as soon as I lay down. I feel like my energy has been replenished." Gwido gifted friendship T-shirts representing each of their characters, making the atmosphere even more cheerful.
Lee Yi-kyung surprised everyone by joining as a "special guest." He arrived carrying ingredients, built a stove with bricks, and was recognized as Chef Lim Tae-hoon's versatile assistant thanks to his cooking skills. However, after tasting the pot rice made by Lim Tae-hoon, Lee Yi-kyung joked, "Maybe because it's Chinese-style, the smoky flavor is great. The smoky flavor doesn't fade until the very end."
Gwido explained, "To enjoy meat deliciously, the Maillard reaction must occur," but in a later interview, Lee Yi-kyung humorously said, "Was it the Neymar reaction?" showing he didn't remember correctly and causing laughter. Feeling good at the dinner table, Lim Tae-hoon asked Gwido, "Feel free to talk about science tonight," but Lim Young-woong stopped him, saying, "Hyung, do you want to go to bed early today?"
At the end of the broadcast, Lim Young-woong's second full album track and the main theme song of "Island Bachelor Young-woong," "I Am a Hero," was revealed, capturing viewers' attention. Also, a preview showed Lim Young-woong's struggle as he tries sea fishing for the first time in his life. Late at night, scenes of the four sharing their inner thoughts and Lim Young-woong's room live performance are scheduled to air. "Island Bachelor Young-woong" airs every Tuesday at 9 PM.
