BTS achieves double platinum with 'DNA' in Japan


Boy group BTS has added a 'Double Platinum' certification from the Japan Record Association. According to the Japan Record Association on the 28th, BTS's title track "DNA" from the album LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her', released in September 2017, surpassed 200 million cumulative streams in July, earning the 'Double Platinum' certification in the streaming category.

With this, BTS now holds their sixth 'Double Platinum' song, following "Dynamite," "Permission to Dance," "Butter," "Boy With Luv (Feat. Halsey)," and "Stay Gold." The Japan Record Association grants monthly certifications based on cumulative streams, categorized as Gold (over 50 million streams), Platinum (over 100 million streams), and Diamond (over 500 million streams).

"DNA" conveys the message that "the two of us have been destined to be connected since the beginning and were one from our DNA." The song features electro-pop sounds and acoustic guitar, expressing youthful, fresh, and passionate love in a bright and cheerful way. BTS first entered the US Billboard main song chart, the Hot 100, with "DNA." The album LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her,' which includes this song, charted on the Billboard 200, the main album chart. At that time, BTS set a record as the first Korean artist to simultaneously rank on both of Billboard's main charts, the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200.
