
Singer Sohyang has officially announced her divorce. On the 3rd, her agency KQ Entertainment stated that Sohyang and her partner decided to support each other's separate paths based on thorough conversations and mutual respect. The agency explained, "The divorce was a mutual agreement without fault on either side." Additionally, the agency added that they will continue to provide support and consideration so that Sohyang can focus on her music activities.
Sohyang married a member of the CCM (Christian music) band POS in 1998. After 25 years, in 2023, the two decided to go their separate ways and have no children. Sohyang had kept the divorce a secret for two years and said she decided to reveal it after watching the Netflix animation "K-Pop Demon Hunters." She said, "It was a painful story, so it was difficult to speak about it easily. Then, I was moved by the scene where the main character of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' courageously reveals a hidden identity," and added, "I hope everyone will support the paths that my ex-husband and I will take from now on."
Since debuting in the music industry in 1996, Sohyang has been active in various music competition programs. She gained much love through MBC's "I Am a Singer" in 2012, as well as KBS's "Immortal Songs" and MBC's "King of Mask Singer." She also raised her profile by singing numerous drama OSTs and serving as a judge on music competition programs.
Recently, Sohyang released a cover video of "Golden" by the girl group Huntrix from "K-Pop Demon Hunters." The video received 2.47 million views and attracted significant attention. Sohyang's music activities will continue going forward. Her agency asked for continued support for Sohyang's future endeavors.
