Singer Sean's donation activities are having a positive impact in the entertainment industry. On the September 6th broadcast of MBC variety show "The Manager" episode 363, Sean's donations and volunteer work were highlighted. It was revealed that Sean's cumulative donation amount reached 6.5 billion won. Sean explained, "This is the amount donated by my wife and me." He stated that the amount raised through various donation events and donation runs is too large to be tallied.
Sean mentioned his involvement in building a children's rehabilitation hospital and an ALS nursing hospital. He said, "We built a children's rehabilitation hospital worth 44 billion won and an ALS nursing hospital worth 23.9 billion won." He is also participating in a housing improvement project for descendants of independence activists. Sean shared about the start of his donations, saying, "I started by saving 10,000 won a day from the day after my wedding and giving 3.65 million won every wedding anniversary, along with volunteering for a day."
The broadcast introduced Sean's daily life. He continued exercising from early morning by conducting '815 Run' training for descendants of independence activists. Afterwards, he visited the first children's rehabilitation hospital established in Korea. Sean said he visits this hospital frequently. The motivation for building the hospital was meeting a child named Eun-chong, who suffers from a rare incurable disease. Eun-chong was given a terminal diagnosis at six months old but showed courage by participating in marathon and triathlon events with his father. Sean said, "Through Eun-chong, I realized the necessity of a children's rehabilitation hospital."
To build the children's rehabilitation hospital, Sean explained, "I started the '10,000 Won Miracle' campaign with the idea that if 10,000 people donate 10,000 won every day for 365 days a year, it would be enough." He made a pledge, "If I run 10,000 kilometers, I will donate 100 million won," and worked hard to fulfill it. Many people joined this effort, and one company donated 20 billion won, making the hospital's opening possible.
Sean and his wife Jung Hye-young are among the stars participating in donation activities. Song Il-gook, G-Dragon, Song Eun-i, and others also joined in support. Sean emphasized the importance of positive influence by mentioning that after the children's rehabilitation hospital opened, the government built two additional hospitals. He revealed that the hospital is running at a deficit, so he continues to hold donation events and donation runs.
Additionally, Sean's donation activity includes the construction of the world's first ALS nursing hospital, Seungil Hope Nursing Hospital, which is noteworthy. He raised 23.9 billion won over 16 years to build this hospital. Sean was the first in Korea to start the Ice Bucket Challenge, encouraging many stars to participate. Jun Hyun-moo, Park Bo-gum, G-Dragon, and others joined the challenge. Sean personally donated over 600 million won. BTS members V and Jungkook, Park Bo-gum, Lee Jung-jae, Lee Je-hoon, Song Eun-i, Song Hye-kyo, Kim Yuna, and others also participated in donations.
The broadcast also mentioned BLACKPINK's Jennie's participation in donations. Jennie's second son Harang proposed building an alternative school and raised funds. Jennie supported Harang's donation and donated 100 million won in the name of her fan club BLINK. These donation activities are recognized as examples of goodwill in the entertainment industry.
