[The Fact | Reporter Kim Myung-joo] Singer and actress IU has released a new song for her fans as summer draws to a close.
On the 10th, her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced, "IU's digital single 'Bye, Summer' was released on various music streaming sites at 7 a.m. today." This release, which took place without any prior notice or promotion, reflects IU's desire to give her fans a special gift as summer draws to a close and the cool breeze begins to blow.
"Bye, Summer" first premiered at the "2024 IU HEREH WORLD TOUR CONCERT ENCORE: THE WINNING" held at Seoul World Cup Stadium in September of last year, garnering significant attention.
During the performance, IU said, "During this tour, the summer felt unusually long. But I want to say that this summer was the best summer ever because I've been with you all. This song is about the exceptionally long summer and the passionate love I felt for you all." She performed the song on stage, playing the guitar herself. After the performance, the live clip of "Bye, Summer" quickly gained attention, topping the YouTube trending list.
Fans have consistently requested an official release for "Bye, Summer," which IU herself wrote and composed, adding a touch of authenticity. Co-composed with composer Seo Dong-hwan, who collaborated with her on last year's "Love Wins All," the song captures IU's signature lyrical vocals, a simple and beautiful melody, and refreshing band sound.
The accompanying lyric video for "Bye, Summer" can be viewed on IU's official YouTube channel. The video tells the story of a boy and a girl who build summer memories and part ways at the end of the season.
IU garnered attention in March for her role in the Netflix original series "Cheated on You," winning the Best Actress and Popular Star awards at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards. She will hold a fan meetup, "2025 IU FAN MEET-UP [Bye, Summer]," at KSPO DOME on March 13th and 14th. She is currently filming for the MBC drama "21st Century Grand Prince's Wife," scheduled to air next year.
IU's new song "Bye, Summer" is available on various music streaming sites and her official YouTube channel.
