The drama 'Praying Mantis' sets a new personal record with a 7.3% viewership rating.

Actors Go Hyun-jung and Jang Dong-yoon delivered powerful performances in the SBS-TV drama "Praying Mantis: The Murderer's Outing." The third episode, aired on September 12, recorded a viewership rating of 7.3%, ranking first among Friday mini-series in the same time slot. The peak rating reached 8.3%. In this episode, the first murder case of serial killer Jung Yi-shin (played by Go Hyun-jung) was revealed, heightening the tension.

Jung Yi-shin killed her husband, the father of her son Cha Soo-yeol (played by Jang Dong-yoon). After the murder, Jung Yi-shin said, "I was lucky," and was engulfed in madness. Jang Dong-yoon screamed in anger, shouting at Jung Yi-shin, "You are a butcher, a praying mantis, a monster who loves the smell of blood." Their confrontation lasted for 15 minutes, increasing the immersion of the drama.

Jung Yi-shin's husband suffered from severe morbid jealousy and was violent toward his wife and son when drunk. After killing her husband impulsively, Jung Yi-shin pushed his body into a well. During this, it rained, and she made a bizarre remark, "It rained after I killed him." Cha Soo-yeol was shocked upon learning this fact.

Ahead of the fourth episode, the production team released scenes from the past involving Jung Yi-shin and police officer Choi Joong-ho (played by Jo Sung-ha). These scenes relate to why Jung Yi-shin earned the nickname "Praying Mantis" and the background of why she was revered by some people. The released photos show Jung Yi-shin biting into an apple.

The production team stated, "Episode 4 will reveal Jung Yi-shin's past and why she came to be called 'Praying Mantis.' Go Hyun-jung's overwhelming acting skills and Jo Sung-ha's solid performance will enhance the drama's immersion."

In the episode, Go Hyun-jung captivated viewers by switching between the roles of a serial killer and a mother. Cha Soo-yeol provoked Jung Yi-shin by saying, "Your hands that killed five people feel warm," and questioned her about additional murders, but Jung Yi-shin ignored him, saying her confession was over.

Cha Soo-yeol tracked signals of a new serial murder victim and encountered a scene that reminded him of memories with his father. He discovered a body in the well and felt contempt and fear as he saw Jung Yi-shin recalling past murders with pleasure.

Go Hyun-jung enhanced immersion by intricately expressing emotions behind a blank expression. When her son handed her coffee, she gave a faint smile, and before her angry shout, she conveyed emotion with trembling lips. In the 15-minute confrontation scene in the latter half, Go Hyun-jung showed overwhelming presence, leaving a strong impression on viewers.

"Praying Mantis: The Murderer's Outing" Episode 4 will air on September 13 at 10 PM. Go Hyun-jung's acting continues to provide viewers with tension and interest in every episode, boosting the drama's popularity.
