Im Yoon-ah and Jo Jae-yoon surpass 17% viewership with cooking battle in 'Tyrant's Chef'

The tvN drama "The Tyrant's Chef," starring Im Yoon-ah and Jo Jae-yoon, provided viewers with visual and gustatory delights through a cooking competition. In episode 8, aired on September 14, the original dishes presented by the world-class chef Yeon Ji-young (played by Im Yoon-ah) and Dang Baek-ryong (played by Jo Jae-yoon) captured the audience's attention.

Episode 8 recorded an average household rating of 15.8% in the metropolitan area, peaking at 18.1%, and an average nationwide household rating of 15.4%, peaking at 17.4%, setting a new personal best. As a result, it ranked first in its time slot across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters. Additionally, in the 2049 male and female demographic ratings, it achieved a metropolitan average of 5.5%, peaking at 6.6%, and a nationwide average of 5.8%, peaking at 6.7%, securing first place across all channels in the same time slot.

In this broadcast, a cooking competition that determined the fate of both countries began. Yeon Ji-young presented a fusion dish combining braised short ribs and beef bourguignon, which drew great interest from the judges, King Lee Heon (played by Lee Chae-min) and Ming Dynasty eunuch Woo Gon (played by Kim Hyung-mook). Yeon Ji-young's dish captivated the judges with the sweet aroma of rice muscat wine and the harmony of tender premium short ribs.

On the other hand, Abisu (played by Moon Seung-yoo) showcased a dish using a new seasoning called Rayu. However, Rayu was a seasoning that could not be made without chili powder, and Yeon Ji-young raised questions about this point. During this process, it was revealed that the person who handed over the chili powder was Je San Daegun (played by Choi Gwi-hwa), a Saongwon manufacturer, heightening the tension.

Considering the circumstances of both chefs, Lee Heon declared a draw and set the condition that if all three competitions ended in a draw, the Ming Dynasty would be declared the winner. Before the second competition, Suragan chef Maeng Man-soo (played by Hong Jin-gi) was pressured by Kang Mok-ju (played by Kang Han-na) to deliberately lose. However, Maeng Man-soo demonstrated Suragan's teamwork by handing the knife to Seo Gil-geum (played by Yoon Seo-ah).

The second dish, Peking duck roll, enticed the palate with its intense and sharp flavor, while the Ming Dynasty presented fresh temple cuisine. Lee Heon and Woo Gon were moved by the taste of both dishes and even shed tears.

Meanwhile, during the competition, sabotage efforts against Yeon Ji-young and Suragan continued. Je San Daegun and Kang Mok-ju conspired against Yeon Ji-young, adding to the tension. Attention is focused on whether Yeon Ji-young and the Suragan chefs can overcome these obstacles and protect their pride.

Episode 9 of "The Tyrant's Chef" is scheduled to air on the 20th at 9:10 PM. The final results of the competition, with the pride of the chefs from both countries at stake, are highly anticipated.
