A new milestone has been set for VR concerts. ENHYPEN's first VR concert, "ENHYPEN VR CONCERT: IMMERSION," concluded its domestic screening on August 18. This concert gained attention as content that could overcome the stagnation in theaters, breaking multiple records from its release until the end of its run.
Since its release on August 8, "ENHYPEN VR CONCERT: IMMERSION" attracted about 30,000 viewers, with an average seat occupancy rate of 43%. This is the highest achievement in the history of domestic VR concerts. Considering that a movie is generally regarded as a hit if its seat occupancy rate exceeds 30%, this figure is a very meaningful accomplishment. It is especially encouraging that such a high occupancy rate was recorded despite being screened in a single theater.
The concert captivated not only the fandom but also the general audience with an ultra-close experience of "0cm in front of the eyes." Viewer ratings reached 9.9 points, with positive reactions such as "a revolution in the concert world," "more realistic than the real thing," and "I want to live wearing VR devices for life." Some fans attracted attention by attending nine times.
The domestic success quickly led to global expansion. "IMMERSION" began screening in Mexico City on August 21, followed by Hong Kong (August 29), Osaka (September 5), Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Taipei (September 12), London (August 29), Manchester (September 19), Berlin (October 16), Bochum (November 13), Hanoi (October 2), Singapore (October 9), Kaohsiung (October 10), and about 40 major cities across Asia, the Americas, and Europe in sequence. This is the largest global project in the history of K-POP VR concerts and serves as an opportunity to reaffirm ENHYPEN's status on the world stage.
In an artist reaction video released on the 17th, the members shared their emotions while experiencing the VR concert with fans. Jungwon expressed amazement, saying, "It was so close that I took off the VR device. I could even see pores." Heeseung laughed, saying, "During filming, the camera almost hit my nose, and it came out just like that in the video." Sunghoon said, "It's amazing that such a device exists; the world has improved a lot," and Sunoo marveled, "Because of the wide angle, you can even see the waiting scenes." Jay said, "The thing I was most curious about in my life was 'How would I feel if I watched our concert?' and this time it was answered."
Behind-the-scenes stories from the filming process were also shared. Jake said, "Since it was a one-take shoot, if we made a mistake, we had to start over from the beginning, but we worked hard." Heeseung added, "Because of the nature of VR, the movement paths were narrow, but in reality, it was implemented much more widely." Ni-ki added, "The outfits changed with each song, and the backgrounds were different, which made it more immersive."
This "ENHYPEN VR CONCERT: IMMERSION" is regarded as a work that combines AMAZE's 12K ultra-high-definition live-action filming, Unreal Engine-based VFX, AI super-resolution, and other proprietary technologies. It vividly captures every breath and expression of the artists, marking an innovative stage that opens a new horizon for VR concerts. Currently, "ENHYPEN VR CONCERT: IMMERSION" is being screened sequentially in major cities worldwide.
