Kim Jaejoong's mother recalled the difficult times of the past. On the 19th episode of KBS 2TV's "Shinsang Chulsi Pyeonstorang," Kim Jaejoong and Park Taehwan appeared. During the broadcast, Kim Jaejoong's mother explained the reason she started a gas station business. She said, "People around me kept persuading me to run a gas station together, so I opened one." However, the business went bankrupt within a year, and the family each took on a debt of 100 million won. Kim Jaejoong's mother recalled, "I really felt hopeless about how to survive."

Kim Jaejoong's father shared his feelings after the business failure. He said, "I completely lost it. I couldn't even recognize people, and everyone said I was crazy." The mother added that her husband suffered mentally. She said, "He developed anger illness, depression, and even mental confusion." She also revealed, "My husband went through many near-death experiences. This is the first time I'm sharing this," and told the story after he received a spiritual calling. She explained, "Since he kept refusing it, he seemed crazy. A monk told him to go to a temple and find peace, so I sent him there."

The father said he acted as a monk at the temple. Kim Jaejoong's mother lamented, "Thinking back then, even if I wanted to die, I couldn't. We had many children." She showed tears, saying, "I suffered so much. Living with my husband was truly hard." The father expressed his apology to his wife, saying, "I caused you a lot of hardship. I still feel guilty. I am a sinner."

The mother revealed that she tried various businesses to make a living. She said, "I tried selling snacks, tangerines, and ginseng, but the most profitable was running a restaurant." She continued, "When I was paid daily wages in the evening at the restaurant, I used that money to feed the children." Kim Jaejoong's mother explained how she came to run the restaurant when her aunt fell ill. She said, "When my aunt got sick and took a few days off, there were no customers. But then I got a call from the police station's duty room asking to deliver jokbal."

The mother shared her experience of serving jokbal along with kimchi pancakes. She said, "Then the next day, from lunchtime, about a dozen people dressed in police uniforms came running. The investigation chief brought 15 people." After that, police officers, court staff, and prosecution office employees visited her restaurant. The mother added, "As time went on, I earned 30 to 40 million won a month. We paid off all the debt within a year."
