Yulhee revealed her feelings at the time of her divorce. On the 29th episode of Channel A's "Close Friends Documentary: Table for Four," Yulhee recalled her experiences with childbirth and parenting. She said, "I gave birth at 21 and raised my child at 22. Since my mother gave birth around my age, I thought she must have had many shortcomings too." She added, "I thought I was mature and even argued fiercely about parenting views. When I was struggling, my mother said, 'Your mother is also my daughter.'"
Yulhee also mentioned the loneliness she felt during her idol activities. She said, "I actually didn't tell my parents about the situation and told them not to ask anything. So, when the divorce article came out later, they found out at the same time." She said her mother called her crying after hearing the news of the divorce and said, "Why didn't you tell me when you were struggling?"
Bang Eun-hee described Yulhee's situation as "being alone in an invisible prison." Yulhee revealed, "At that time, I thought it was like spitting on my own face. I wanted everything to be quiet and neat. I thought I had to do that for the children's sake as well."
In this broadcast, Yulhee confessed that she suffered from depression after the divorce. She said, "After the divorce, I was advised by my agency to see a psychiatrist. I was diagnosed with depression. I thought it was because of the environmental change, but I had lethargy and insomnia caused by depression." She added that she was recommended medication but stopped it after starting to run, and her insomnia disappeared as well.
Yulhee meets her three children through supervised visitation and said, "I always want to see my children. My 8-year-old son says, 'Even though I'm seeing you, I still want to see you.'" She emphasized that her relationship with her children is close. Regarding why she did not inform her parents about the divorce, Yulhee said she told them, "I think I have to get a divorce. Please don't ask anything." Her parents found out about the divorce through the news article and cried, saying, "Why didn't you tell us for years?"
Yulhee explained why she did not disclose the reason for the divorce, saying, "I was scared and didn't have the courage. I thought it was like spitting on my own face." She said she wanted a clean divorce for the sake of her children. Bang Eun-hee expressed regret that Yulhee did not seek help, and lawyer Yang So-young expressed concern, saying, "She doesn't take care of herself."
Yulhee married FT Island's Choi Min-hwan in January 2018 after a premarital pregnancy in November 2017 but divorced in 2023. After the divorce, Yulhee exposed Choi Min-hwan's visits to entertainment establishments and allegations of sexual harassment, while Choi Min-hwan mentioned Yulhee's frequent running away and neglect of childcare. Although Choi Min-hwan had custody and parental rights, Yulhee filed a lawsuit last year against him for alimony, property division, and changes to custody and parental rights.
Yulhee said, "When my mother heard about my pregnancy, she was very upset and cried a lot," adding, "My mother gave birth at 23 and cried, saying, 'I hoped you wouldn't live like me.'" She added, "My mother told me, 'Do as you see fit.' When I said I was going to the hospital the next day, she said, 'You're amazing,' and gradually accepted it."
