'Hip Hop Princess' has built anticipation by pre-releasing the first episode. Premiering on October 16, 'Unpretty Rapstar: Hip Hop Princess' (hereafter 'Hip Hop Princess') is a new Korea-Japan joint hip-hop girl group project presented by Mnet. Aiming to create a new global hip-hop girl group, the participants actively engage in all processes including music, choreography, styling, and video production, showcasing their unique colors. Through this process, they will create a growth story not only through competition but also collaboration.
The pre-release video of episode 1 features the first meeting of participants from both Korea and Japan, along with a self-introduction cypher mission. The format starts with the participant who grabs the microphone first after hearing the beat and begins rapping. Continuing the legacy of 'Unpretty Rapstar,' which left legendary quotes like Jessi's "We're not a team. This is competition," the 'Hip Hop Princess' participants also raise immersion with bold and fearless self-introduction cyphers, determined with the mindset of "I'll show you how it's done, sister."
The first to grab the microphone, Korea's 9th place Kwon Dohee, attracted attention with her relaxed rapping and a performance appealing to MC Soyeon. 7th place Kim Doi, contrary to her cute appearance, caught viewers' attention with a fierce rap and intense gaze the moment she took the microphone. The Japanese participants' momentum was no less impressive. Unlike Korea, the Japanese participants, who were full of nervousness and worry, completely transformed the moment they grabbed the microphone, dominating the atmosphere on site.
Japan's 7th place Kokoro showed a strong presence with intense force and low-tone rap, leaving behind her shy appearance. 6th place Rino left a strong impression with fast rapping and precise diction even while surrounded by Korean participants. Toward the end of the video, the fierce microphone battle among the top participants from 5th to 2nd place began, raising the tension to its peak.
Led with the seasoned experience of 'Unpretty Rapstar,' Soyeon expressed her expectations for the synergy between Korean and Japanese participants, saying, "If the Korean friends were neat, the Japanese friends stood out with a raw feeling." Enthusiastic reactions from viewers have continued since the pre-release video was unveiled. Prospective viewers are already passionately cheering for their 'one-pick' participants, leaving comments such as "The rap battle dopamine was insane."
Voices of support for the Korea-Japan participants, who made a strong impression with their vibrant energy and charm, continue without pause. Anticipation for the main broadcast is rising even higher. 'Hip Hop Princess' will premiere on Mnet at 9:50 PM on October 16 and will be simulcast in Japan through U-NEXT.
