JTBC's entertainment program "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" has had its broadcast schedule changed. On the 4th, JTBC announced, "The Chuseok special of 'Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,' originally scheduled to air on the 5th, has been rescheduled to 10 PM on the 6th." This change was made at the request of the Presidential Office.
The Presidential Office explained the reason for requesting the postponement of the broadcast featuring President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung. Presidential Office spokesperson Kim Nam-joon stated, "Considering that all government departments are observing a moment of mourning due to the death of a national public official, we requested the postponement of the broadcast." He added, "President Lee Jae-myung and his wife were scheduled to appear on the Chuseok special airing on the 5th to promote K-food cooked with seasonal ingredients."
This broadcast will proceed under the theme "Chuseok Special, Please Take Care of My K-Refrigerator," where top domestic chefs will showcase various dishes using Korea's seasonal ingredients. President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung, as "K-food ambassadors," planned to introduce seasonal agricultural and marine products and traditional Chuseok foods, as well as share their favorite dishes and holiday-related memories.
However, the background to the schedule change is the fire at the National Intelligence Resources Management Agency that occurred on the 3rd. Due to this fire, a Ministry of the Interior and Safety official, who was in charge of the national computer network failure response team, died. The Presidential Office judged that airing the program under these circumstances could potentially cause misunderstandings.
Spokesperson Kim explained that from the night of the 26th, immediately after President Lee Jae-myung returned from his visit to the United States, he was regularly briefed on the fire situation, checked the damage and government response, and gave necessary instructions. On the 27th, a Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting chaired by the Prime Minister was held, and the fire was fully extinguished by 6 PM that day.
On the 28th at 10:50 AM, the President held an emergency countermeasure meeting, receiving reports on the situation and discussing measures with the three chiefs of the Presidential Office, the head of the Crisis Management Center, the head of the National Situation Room, and the spokesperson. During this meeting, he instructed the holding of a Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting in the afternoon and the inspection of each ministry's tasks. That afternoon, the President recorded the JTBC program "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" and presided over the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters meeting at 5:30 PM.
The Presidential Office stated that the request to postpone the broadcast depended on the final decision of the broadcasting company. The broadcaster accepted the Presidential Office's request and adjusted the broadcast schedule accordingly. As a result, "Please Take Care of My Refrigerator" is scheduled to air at 10 PM on the 6th.
On the second day of the Chuseok holiday, the 4th, President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung delivered holiday greetings through a video message while wearing hanbok. They had planned to appear on the broadcast to promote the appeal of K-food, but the broadcast schedule was changed out of respect for national mourning.
This broadcast was considered an important opportunity to promote K-food and introduce traditional Korean cuisine. However, mourning and respect for the national tragedy were prioritized, leading to the adjustment of the broadcast schedule.
