Group BTS member RM shared his personal thoughts on marriage. Recently, RM held a live broadcast on the fan communication platform Weverse and talked about his views on marriage. He said, "You need to know well how to deal with loneliness, but I'm not good at spending time alone," revealing his concerns about marriage.
RM mentioned that sometimes he wonders, "Is this why people get married?" He defined marriage as "finding a comrade and lifelong friend to do everything together," quoting advice from friends around him. He also said that watching his parents' married life made him think he would naturally get married someday, but now at 32, he reflected on the low marriage rate among his friends. He noted, "Only 2 to 3 out of 10 friends have gotten married," referring to the current trend of not getting married.
RM clarified his stance on marriage further. He said, "If the timing and connection are right, I will get married, but I might end up living alone," expressing uncertainty about marriage. He added, "These days, there's a pressure to get married," sharing his opinion on social pressure. He pointed out that women especially feel pressured about marriage due to issues like having children. He emphasized, "I hope people just live their own way," stressing that marriage is not the only answer.
RM said marriage should not be chosen as an escape from loneliness. He shared deep thoughts on the meaning of marriage, saying, "In the end, if you can't handle being alone well, getting married won't necessarily make things better."
When asked about having children, RM gave an honest view. He mentioned the burden he feels thinking about his parents, saying, "I'm still struggling to take care of myself, so can I be responsible for a new life?" He expressed fear about childbirth, saying, "Thinking about how much trouble I caused my parents when I was young, they might hate it if a kid like me comes along."
Lastly, RM said about marriage, "For those of us born in the '90s like me, marriage is an option," emphasizing the importance of personal choice. He concluded his view on marriage by saying, "You have to go your own way." RM's remarks reflect various perspectives on marriage and individual life in modern society.
