Jo Woo-jin and Jung Kyung-ho's comic action film 'Boss' reaches 1 million viewers in 5 days

The movie "Boss" (directed by Ra Hee-chan) surpassed 1 million viewers on its fifth day of release. As of 9:20 a.m. on October 7, according to the Korea Film Council's integrated computer network, "Boss" recorded a cumulative audience of 1 million within five days of its release. This is the shortest period for a Korean film released in October since the 2020 pandemic.

"Boss" attracted about 240,000 viewers on its opening day, setting the highest opening score for a Korean film released in October since the pandemic. It then secured the number one spot at the box office for four consecutive days, solidifying its dominant run. The seat occupancy rate reached 40.4%, ranking first in overall seat sales, demonstrating high satisfaction among actual viewers.

The movie "Boss" is a comic action film depicting a desperate battle among organization members who fiercely compete to yield the boss position to each other for their own dreams, ahead of the selection of the next boss on whom the organization's future depends. It twists the usual power struggle formula of gangster films with a fresh concept of "people who don't want to be the boss," bringing laughter to the audience.

Lead actors Jo Woo-jin, Jung Kyung-ho, Park Ji-hwan, and Lee Kyu-hyung created explosive comedic synergy with their unpretentious, self-deprecating performances and seamless chemistry. Audience reactions have also been positive. A CGV viewer said, "It's been a long time since I laughed this much in a movie theater," while a Lotte Cinema viewer commented, "This movie is perfect for blowing away holiday stress."

The genre choice timed with the Chuseok holiday proved effective. "Boss" is a comedy film that the whole family can enjoy without burden, combining action and humor in a balanced way to enhance immersion.

At the stage greeting held on the 5th, director Ra Hee-chan and the lead actors met with the audience. They appeared wearing hanbok made by master designer Park Sul-nyeo, greeting the audience with deep bows for Chuseok, heating up the atmosphere. Their hanbok, reflecting the colors and designs of their characters' personalities, attracted attention.

The movie "Boss" is currently showing in theaters nationwide. It continues to offer audiences a new comedic action experience and is enjoying successful box office results during the Chuseok holiday season.
