[The Fact | Reporter Gong Mina] BTS member RM (real name Kim Namjoon) revealed, "In Korea, those born in the 90s are the first generation where marriage is an option."
On the 5th, during a live broadcast on the fan communication platform Weverse, RM said, "(Marriage) should be your own choice."
During the broadcast, RM discussed his recent loneliness and the topic of marriage and childbirth. He said, "As you get older, you need to befriend yourself and learn how to deal with loneliness, but I don't stay home alone very well. I think, 'This is why people get married.'"
RM continued, "Two or three out of ten of my friends are married and have already had children," adding, "But these days, it's becoming less common. If the timing is right and you meet the right person, you can get married, or you can live alone. I don't think there's a right answer."
He also expressed caution about the social pressure to marry. RM said, "Women, in particular, face various challenges, such as childbirth and childcare. I feel like society and the media continue to pressure them, but I hope they can live their lives on their own terms."
He also cautioned against using loneliness as a reason for marriage. "If you can't stand being alone, I don't think marriage will make things better," he added. "If you get married, you might want to be alone again. Using marriage as an escape from loneliness is a bit..."
Meanwhile, all members of BTS, including RM, recently completed their mandatory military service and are preparing for a full group comeback next year. Additionally, RM will hold an exhibition titled 'RM x SFMOMA' as a curator at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in the United States from October next year to February 2027.
