
The late Jung Se-hyeop has passed away. The funeral procession will be held on the 9th at 7:40 a.m. at the Hambak Mountain Funeral Hall in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. The burial site is Hambak Mountain Memorial Park. Jung Se-hyeop died of a heart attack on the afternoon of the 6th. He was 41 years old.
Born in 1984, Jung Se-hyeop debuted in 2008 as a comedian through SBS's 10th special recruitment. He was actively involved in various public comedy programs such as "People Looking for Laughter" and "Gag Tonight." He was especially loved for his character "Chao Chao" in the "Hao Chao" segment of "Gag Tonight." This character brought laughter to the public with the catchphrase "Chao Chao!" and imitating a dog.
In 2015, Jung Se-hyeop was diagnosed with leukemia and devoted himself to treatment. In 2022, he appeared on the YouTube channel "Midnight Shrine," revealing that after five years of battling the disease and undergoing a bone marrow transplant, he was declared cured. Afterward, he returned to the KBS 2TV variety show "Gag Concert" and continued his active career. Jung Se-hyeop participated in recordings and continued his comedy activities until recently.
The sudden news of Jung Se-hyeop's death prompted condolences from broadcasting officials and fellow comedians. The "Gag Concert" team announced the news of his passing through their official SNS. Comedian Kim Won-hyo wrote on his personal SNS, "I sincerely pray for the deceased's happiness. May you joke more freely and comfortably in a better place... Don't cry, just live laughing." Hong Hyun-hee said, "My heart aches deeply at this unbelievable news. Rest peacefully now in a place without pain. I sincerely pray for the deceased's happiness."
Jung Se-hyeop appeared on "Gag Concert" which aired on the 5th of 2023, and passed away the next day, the 6th. His death was a great shock to his colleagues. Park Sung-kwang mourned, "Let's hope our Se-hyeop is only happy there." Hwang Young-jin expressed his longing, saying, "A junior I liked has left us. He was good at acting and a truly kind junior."
Since his debut in 2008, Jung Se-hyeop brought much laughter to the public through various comedy programs. His catchphrases and characters will be remembered by many. His activities and achievements during his lifetime had a significant impact on the Korean comedy scene. Jung Se-hyeop's death remains a sorrowful news to many.
