SEVENTEEN's The8, Mingyu, and Vernon released "Illegal + SEVENTEEN," a reinterpretation of British singer-songwriter PinkPantheress's hit song, on the 10th at 8 a.m. This track was produced by sampling British singer Underworld's "Dark & Long-Dark Train." Drum and bass sounds were added to create a fresh vibe.
"Illegal" gained worldwide popularity since its release last May. The song entered the US Billboard main chart, the "Hot 100," and set a record of over 100 million streams on Spotify. This remix project was carried out as part of PinkPantheress's new album "Fancy Some More?" project.
SEVENTEEN collaborated with Anita, Jade, and others on this project. The members said, "Since this is a genre we usually like, we enjoyed working on it," and added, "It was a meaningful collaboration because we could show a new charm." They also mentioned points to focus on while listening to the music. They recommended, "If you focus on the rhythm while listening, you can better feel the charm of 'Illegal + SEVENTEEN.'"
