80s MBC Seoul Music Festival stars hold a grand holiday celebration on 'Hangout with Yoo'

On the October 11th broadcast of MBC's variety show "Hangout with Yoo," a Chuseok grand festival featuring the main figures of the 1980s MBC Seoul Music Festival was revealed. Various artists including Lee Juck, Lee Junyoung, Choi Jung-hoon (Jannabi), Lee Yongjin & LALAL, Park Young-gyu, Park Myung-soo, DinDin, Solar, Choi Yuri, and Liz (IVE) appeared to hold a blue-and-white song competition capturing the emotions of the 1980s.

The metropolitan household viewership rating for this broadcast was 5.5%, with a peak rating reaching 6.5%, ranking first among Saturday variety shows. The program host Yoo Jae-suk asked about the aftermath of the music festival. DinDin mentioned, "Solar was disappointed for not receiving an award," but Lee Yongjin revealed, "DinDin was the only participant dissatisfied with not winning." Lee Yongjin said that DinDin told him, "I should have placed around fourth. Honestly, hyung, didn't I kill it? Or did I not kill it enough?" DinDin also made the audience laugh by exposing Park Myung-soo's backstage comment that "the awards were given mostly to singers."

Behind-the-scenes footage of the joint grand prize winners Lee Juck and Lee Junyoung's stage was also shown. Lee Juck recalled, "I think my eyes were spinning at that time," while Haha mentioned Lee Junyoung's sudden transformation on stage as he danced, raising speculation about an 'introvert acting theory.' Lee Yongjin said he witnessed Lee Junyoung speaking in an alien language with dance crews in the waiting room, to which Lee Junyoung explained, "I'm usually quiet, but that day I suddenly got hyped and spoke in an alien language."

Following this, the blue-and-white song competition for popular 1980s holiday gift sets began. In round one, Lee Yongjin and DinDin faced off. DinDin chose "Dididi (Kim Hyerim)" and tore up the stage with the support of the white team. Lee Yongjin sang "When Time Passes (Choi Hoseop)," delivering the emotions of that era with a delicate voice and an 80s-style farewell.

In round two, Solar and LALAL attracted attention by performing "I Love You (Go Eunhee & Lee Jeongran)" with perfect harmony and dance performance. Joo Woo-jae and Lee Junyoung sang the ballad "You in My Memories (Hwang Chi-hoon)" and improvised a performance on the spot. Lee Junyoung showed the dance of a 'grand prize winner,' and Joo Woo-jae also danced awkwardly, creating fantastic chemistry.

Round three featured Lee Juck and Liz performing songs from the music festival finals. Liz captivated the audience with her clear tone singing "My Old Story (Jo Deok-bae)." When asked to shout out her first love, DinDin waved his hand and added laughter by saying, "I'm married." Lee Juck energized the mood by powerfully singing "Train to the World (Deulgukhwa)."

Round four continued with Yoo Jae-suk and Park Myung-soo's 'wish fulfillment' stage. Park Myung-soo performed "Flying Through the Deep Night (Lee Moon-se)" with Choi Yuri, saying, "If you want laughter, I'll raise the key." In response, Lee Yi-kyung and Choi Jung-hoon chose "The First Snow is Coming (Lee Jeongseok)," captivating the audience by switching between a sweet ballad and lively dance sections.

This broadcast successfully conveyed the Chuseok holiday atmosphere, offering viewers laughter and auditory delight. With the participation of various artists, this program recreating the emotions of the 1980s received much praise.
