Pawoo dominates global charts amid YouTube Music playback errors

Around 8 a.m. on the 16th, some disruptions occurred on the YouTube and YouTube Music applications. According to Google Korea, an error occurred that caused YouTube and YouTube Music to not function properly for some users that morning. Google Korea stated, "We will notify once the issue is resolved," and apologized for the inconvenience.

When the disruption happened, some users saw only ads without video playback. YouTube shows ads first to users who do not have a regular subscription before providing videos. Shorts, which are short videos about 15 minutes long, also did not play. Video playback began to resume about an hour later.

YouTube has established itself as the most-watched video platform among Koreans. According to the market research firm Mobile Index, the monthly active users (MAU) of the YouTube app reached 48.52 million in August this year. This essentially means it is the video platform primarily chosen by the entire nation.

YouTube Music has become a major music streaming platform. It is analyzed that by the end of 2023, YouTube Music overtook Melon, the previous market leader, to reclaim the number one spot. Since then, it has been widening the gap in market share with competing platforms such as Melon, Spotify, and Genie Music.

The group POW is captivating fans worldwide with their new song "Wall Flowers" through various music show stages. POW belongs to Grid Entertainment and is the agency of Lee Sang-won and Lee Rio, who gained great popularity on the recently concluded "Boys 2 Planet." The two are preparing to debut as Alpha Drive One.

POW showcased their presence by appearing consecutively on Mnet's "M Countdown" on the 2nd, SBS's "Inkigayo" on the 12th, and MBC every1's "Show! Champion" on the 15th. On each stage, POW dynamically portrayed the narrative of "Wall Flowers," which metaphorically represents those quietly blooming in a corner of the wall, capturing fans' attention. On "Show! Champion," they completed a unique stage by performing "Celebrate" as a special stage alongside "Wall Flowers."

In a pre-stage interview, Jungbin said, "October 11 was our 2nd debut anniversary. We prepared the 'Celebrate' stage to commemorate being with POWer (the fandom name)." Fans responded enthusiastically. Praise such as "The emotion deepens with every stage," "A performance full of POW's unique emotion," and "Music and visuals have all grown" continued.

After its release, "Wall Flowers" ranked 10th on the iTunes U.S. K-POP chart, entered the top ranks in Germany and the Philippines charts, and ranked first in all genres in Thailand. It also appeared on Apple Music K-POP daily charts in Sweden, Uruguay, Kuwait, Eswatini, Laos, and other countries, proving its global popularity across platforms like iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify.

POW is scheduled to reappear on Mnet's "M Countdown" airing on the 16th to continue their music show activities. With deeper emotions and dazzling performances, they are expected to captivate viewers once again. POW's new song "Wall Flowers" tells the story of people who quietly express their presence despite appearing ordinary. It reflects POW's identity through music as they walk their own path even in harsh environments.
