Severe weather across the country... Full of worries due to rain and strong winds

Tomorrow (the 18th), the whole country will be mostly cloudy with rain. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, strong rain accompanied by gusts of wind, thunder, and lightning is forecasted in the southern regions and Jeju Island. Caution is required due to this.

According to the announcement from the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 17th, rain will begin from dawn tomorrow. In the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam region, clouds will increase from the afternoon, and except for the southern inland area of Gyeonggi Province, rain will fall in the metropolitan area between midnight and 6 a.m. Most other regions will experience rain between 6 a.m. and noon. The southern coast and Jeju Island are expected to have rain between noon and 6 p.m. Rain will continue until the morning of the 19th in the northern coastal area of North Gyeongsang Province, the northeastern mountains, and Gangwon Province.

Expected rainfall amounts vary by region. The West Sea Five Islands: 10–50mm, Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi: 10–40mm, Gangwon Yeongdong: 20–70mm, Gangwon Yeongseo: 10–40mm, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam: 10–60mm, Chungbuk: 10–50mm, Jeonbuk: 10–50mm, Gwangju, Jeonnam: 10–40mm, Busan, Ulsan, Gyeongnam, Daegu, Gyeongbuk: 10–40mm, Ulleungdo and Dokdo: 10–40mm, Jeju Island: 10–60mm.

In particular, from tonight until tomorrow dawn, there may be gusts of wind with thunder and lightning in the southern regions and Jeju Island. In the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions and Jeju Island, heavy rain of around 20mm per hour is possible. In areas with rain, visibility will be low and roads slippery, increasing the risk of traffic accidents, so caution is necessary.

Tomorrow, strong winds with gusts around 55 km/h are expected in most parts of the country. Therefore, facility management and safety precautions should be taken. Especially from dawn tomorrow, strong winds with gusts exceeding 70 km/h may blow mainly along the western coast of Chungnam and from the morning along the western coast of Jeolla, and a strong wind advisory may be issued.

Safety precautions are also necessary at sea. Today and tomorrow, gusts of wind accompanied by thunder and lightning are expected in the West Sea, South Sea, and Jeju Island waters. Tomorrow, similar weather phenomena will occur in the southern East Sea waters as well.

In the mountainous areas of Gangwon Province, low clouds will move in, causing dense fog with visibility below 200 meters. This requires safe driving practices such as reducing speed.

Tomorrow morning's lowest temperature is expected to be between 13 and 21 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high between 17 and 25 degrees Celsius. Since temperatures will not rise significantly, appropriate clothing is necessary when going outside.

Overall, tomorrow will continue to have rain and strong winds, and special caution regarding safety accidents is required.
