Explosive Response: Just Makeup Sweeps the K-POP Stage

'Just Makeup' received great acclaim for the stage makeup of the idol group TWS. In episode 6 of the Coupang Play variety show 'Just Makeup,' released on October 17, the fusion of K-beauty and K-POP was showcased through the first team mission, eliciting an explosive response from viewers. Following the confirmation of a total of 16 survivors, including additional qualifiers from the 1:1 death match, this episode featured the full-scale team mission.

The first mission was the stage makeup for the K-POP idol group TWS's performance of "Lucky To Be Loved." Participants went beyond makeup to complete the narrative and direction of the stage, demonstrating new possibilities for K-beauty. 'Just Makeup' is a survival program where makeup artists representing K-beauty compete fiercely on a global scale beyond South Korea.

In episode 6, the top four winning candidates voted by participants—Paris Goldhand, Sontail, Firstman, and Mactist—became team leaders and faced off in stage makeup battles for the K-POP groups TWS and STAYC. Under the extreme rule where all members of the winning team survive and all members of the losing team are eliminated, the final results were determined by the combined scores of four judges and votes from 100 fans. This created an atmosphere filled with unprecedented tension.

Episode 6 featured a showdown between the strong contenders 'Team Sontail' and 'Team Paris Goldhand.' Team Sontail expressed TWS's freshness with their signature color, 'Sparkling Blue.' They especially incorporated the fandom name '42' as a point by utilizing makeup elements from Neverdeadqueen, maximizing the meaning of the fan song "Lucky To Be Loved." The costumes minimized patterns and colors, adding strap details to make the choreography flow like a melody. This stage delicately expressed the connection with fans and left a deep impression on the judges.

Team Paris Goldhand sensually expressed the emotions fluctuating between boyhood and adulthood under the theme "Blooming Emotion." They portrayed the brilliance of blossoming youth with shining crystal parts and attached parts not only on the face but also on fingers and ears to emphasize the hand choreography of "Lucky To Be Loved." Adding frills and floral details to a minimal mood, they completed a styling that coexists romance and strength. The dazzling glitter and body makeup infused emotion throughout the stage, powerfully showcasing Team Paris Goldhand's originality.

Members of TWS, who took the stage, sincerely thanked the participants, saying, "We saw you analyzing our song by playing it over and over and thinking about its meaning. We felt how honorable and grateful it is to receive makeup filled with such effort."

After the two teams' performances, the fan vote resulted in an extremely close outcome with only a 16-vote difference. The final winner will be decided by the judges' votes, drawing focused attention on which team will prevail.

'Just Makeup' ranked first among Coupang Play's popular shows in its second week after release, with viewership increasing by 748% compared to the first week. Viewers praised it with comments such as "The world of makeup is diverse," "Art beyond makeup," "A competition truly focused on makeup," and "It makes us look forward to the revival of the makeup era." As the competition intensifies and the touching narrative unfolds, anticipation grows for the journey of the remaining survivors.

'Just Makeup' is released every Friday at 8 PM.
