The group TWS recently took another step forward by releasing their fourth mini-album, "play hard." This album deepens their musical identity while adding new variations. The title track, "OVERDRIVE," dynamically expresses the emotions of youth falling in love. It features a lively beat and healthy energy, characterized by powerful performances. This song maintains themes similar to their previous works, contributing to securing broad public appeal.
The tracks on "play hard" include various styles such as refreshing hip-hop and synth sounds. These elements serve to strengthen TWS's musical identity. However, this new release does not simply showcase the existing "TWS-style freshness." The members express intense inner emotions through strong performances in "OVERDRIVE," and the vocals skillfully convey the turbulent feelings. Member Jihoon participated in the performance production and lyric writing of this song, demonstrating each individual's improved skills.
Signs of TWS's growth can also be seen in the pre-release track "Head Shoulders Knees Toes." This song contains fierce choreography they had not shown before and a declarative message about breaking limits. Having debuted last year, they have now transformed into youth who view reality proactively.
The new album sold approximately 640,000 copies during its first week (October 13–19), surpassing the initial sales of their previous work. This is an indicator of TWS's steady upward trajectory. Foreign media have also positively evaluated their transformation. The Hollywood Reporter stated, "The new release, filled with intense energy, shows a new side fitting for the period of moving forward as youth." Cosmopolitan described TWS as "a versatile group that crosses genres based on the strong DNA of 'boyhood pop.'"
TWS has solidified their unique color through the various seasons of youth. They have now grown into a team that cannot be described by the single word "freshness." The public is focusing on how TWS opens new possibilities based on their signature "TWS-style freshness." Attention is concentrated on their future path.
