Seventeen receives Presidential Citation... Elevating the status of K-pop

The group SEVENTEEN received the Presidential Citation at the '2025 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' ceremony held on October 23 at the National Theater of Korea in Jung-gu, Seoul. SEVENTEEN is currently conducting a world tour in North America, and members Jeonghan and Wonwoo attended the ceremony representing the team. Although they are fulfilling their military service obligations, they were able to attend through consultations with the Military Manpower Administration and related government agencies.

Jeonghan and Wonwoo expressed their gratitude upon receiving the award, saying, "We are even more thankful and honored to receive the Presidential Citation on our 10th debut anniversary." They continued, "We thank everyone who has worked hard for the K-pop industry and culture. We will continue to promote K-pop widely and contribute to the development of popular culture as SEVENTEEN. We also thank CARATs who always support us from the same place."

The 'Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards' is a government award given to popular culture artists and groups who have contributed to the global expansion of K-content and the development of the industry. SEVENTEEN received the Prime Minister's Citation at this ceremony in 2020, and this Presidential Citation marks their first in five years.

Since their debut in 2015, SEVENTEEN has left a significant mark in Korean popular music history with achievements such as their 10th mini-album 'FML,' which recorded the highest sales for a single K-pop album, and their 11th mini-album 'SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN,' which set the record for the highest first-week sales. Additionally, they elevated the status of Korean popular music on the global stage by being the first K-pop artist to perform on the main stage of the UK's Glastonbury Festival and headlining at Germany's Lollapalooza Berlin and Mexico's Tecate Pa'l Norte.

SEVENTEEN is also actively involved in social contribution activities. Last year, they were appointed as UNESCO's first Youth Ambassadors and donated $1 million to establish the Global Youth Grant Scheme. In August, they donated the proceeds from the charity auction 'JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN,' held in celebration of International Youth Day, to UNESCO.

Marking their 10th anniversary this year, SEVENTEEN is further strengthening K-pop's influence through various activities. Members were named in Gold House's 'A100 (Most Influential Asians 100)' list, and the group produced two Recording Academy voting members (Woozi and Vernon). Their fifth full-length album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY,' released last May, debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, receiving widespread love worldwide.

SEVENTEEN's world tour 'SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [NEW_] IN U.S.' is currently underway. Starting with the Tacoma concert on the 11th (local time), the shows in Los Angeles on the 16th and 17th and Austin on the 21st and 22nd concluded with explosive responses from local fans. SEVENTEEN will continue the tour with performances in Sunrise on the 26th and 27th, and Washington D.C. on the 29th and 30th.
