The vocal national competition "Veiled Musician" will premiere on Netflix on November 12. This program embarks on a journey to find the true top vocalist with an approach different from existing audition shows. "Veiled Musician" is a large-scale project held simultaneously in several Asian countries, including South Korea. Participants compete in a survival format, hiding their appearance, age, region, and educational background, relying solely on their voice and musicality. The program provides a stage focused on the essence of music, discovering new musicians and hidden masters.
After the 8-week journey of the program, the TOP 3 from each country will gather in South Korea, the home of K-pop, for the "Veiled Cup," which determines Asia's best vocalist. The "Veiled Cup" will take place over four weeks starting in January next year, featuring touching musical narratives and performances. This first-ever vocal national competition has been confirmed to air on SBS.
The judging panel of "Veiled Musician" is also noteworthy. Under the hosting of MC Daniel Choi, musicians from various genres such as Paul Kim, Ailee, Shin Yong Jae, Monsta X's Kihyun, Bolbbalgan4, and Kiss of Life's Bell will participate as judges. Tiffany Young, 10CM, Ailee, Paul Kim, Henry, and (G)I-DLE's Miyeon are scheduled to appear in the "Veiled Cup," raising expectations.
Producer Lee Hong-hee stated, "As I witness the skills of each country's vocal representatives, I realize there are truly many talented singers in the world. We are putting our utmost effort into conveying that emotion faithfully." He added, "This season is limited to Asia, but in the future, we want to expand by continent to Europe, South America, the Americas, Africa, and find the world's best vocalist. That aspiration is embodied in the title 'Veiled Cup.'"
"Veiled Musician" is planned by Canverse and produced by SBS Prism Studio, with Spotify participating as the official partner. While taking its historic first step on Netflix on November 12, the "Veiled Cup" will also be simultaneously released on SBS in January next year. This program has the potential to establish itself as a global music audition beyond Asia.
