Psychus held a comeback interview at a café in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, ahead of the release of their 6th mini-album, "HOUSE OF TRICKY: WRECKING THE HOUSE." Marking their comeback about seven months after their 5th mini-album, they emphasized communication with their fans. Sumin said, "It was hard because I missed the fans for seven months. I was itching to share these great songs quickly."
Minjae shared, "I gained a lot of experience during the seven months. We went on tour, and thankfully, we performed as the opening act at ATEEZ seniors' concert. I think I grew a lot by interacting with many people on big stages." He added, "Having accumulated so much experience, I prepared for the comeback with excitement and anticipation to show a much more grown-up side."
Junghoon said, "This is our second comeback. During the period without comeback activities, we communicated quite a bit with our fans. There were many requests to come back quickly. I'm happy to finally reveal it." The release date of the 6th mini-album, the 31st, coincides with Halloween. Minjae explained, "I thought it would be fun to align it with Halloween again this time."
Sumin said, "I think I've grasped my own way of using the stage and the flow of the performance. Understanding the fans' reactions helped a lot in preparing for the comeback." Junmin added, "The camera angles change on music shows, and I learned what mindset and expressions to use for each angle."
"HOUSE OF TRICKY: WRECKING THE HOUSE" is the final installment of the "HOUSE OF TRICKY" series that Psychus has continued since their debut. The title track, "SUPERPOWER (Peak)," expresses their determination to overcome limits with Psychus' unique energy. Sumin said, "This album marks the end of the 'HOUSE OF TRICKY' series. Among our choreography, there is a key move where we open an energy drink to recharge power."
Minjae stated, "We have released six albums in the same series without a full-length album. I think it's time for a chapter change. This is that time. Our goal is to naturally create a 'trigger' by finishing the 'HOUSE OF TRICKY' series well, so fans can look forward to the next chapter."
The choreography for the title track "SUPERPOWER" has become harder. Yechan said, "This choreography is very difficult, but I can show some ease within it." Minjae explained, "The stage starts with a free movement line, not a group dance in the intro. It's a style Psychus has never tried before."
Saeun said, "The first impression of 'SUPERPOWER' might be surprising, but the song and title fit well. We practiced with determination." Hunter added, "In this song, the vocal energy is important. I learned new vocal techniques."
Yechan said, "When writing the lyrics, I wanted to show energy, so I included the line 'There is no Plan B.'" Minjae said, "People often say life is about energy. Whenever difficulties arise, I say, 'Let's break through head-on with energy.'" The members chose "energy drink," "peak," and "conviction" as keywords for this "SUPERPOWER."
For Psychus, the "HOUSE OF TRICKY" series has been a companion since their debut. Hunter said, "This series will remain special. I want to finish it well." Hyunwoo explained, "The album's storyline is about ten people coming together, facing hardships and adversity, and finally expanding with the album 'SUPERPOWER' to move forward anew."
Saeun confessed, "I often thought it would be nice to release a full-length album next time." Sumin expressed a wish, "I want to rank number one on the Billboard 200." Yechan said, "I want to earn the title of being 'unique.'"
Psychus aims to become a group that represents the era. Yechan said, "We're definitely on the right path. If we keep going like this, we'll get closer." Minjae promised, "I won't lose the love for the stage while working hard."
Psychus' 6th mini-album, "HOUSE OF TRICKY: WRECKING THE HOUSE," will be released at 1 PM on the 31st.
