The group TWS's 4th mini-album 'play hard' ranked number one on the Oricon album chart in Japan. According to the Oricon chart dated October 30, TWS's 4th mini-album sold 124,547 copies on its first day, topping the 'Daily Album Ranking.' This album was officially released in Japan on October 30.
On its first day of release in Japan, 'play hard' exceeded the first-week cumulative sales of about 87,000 copies of the 3rd mini-album 'TRY WITH US.' It also recorded higher sales than the 119,617 copies sold on the first day of the local debut single 'Nice to see you again,' released last July. This shows that TWS's popularity in Japan is continuously rising.
The album also showed strong performance domestically. 'play hard' sold nearly 640,000 copies in its first week, breaking the initial sales record of the previous work. Additionally, it took first place in both the Circle Chart weekly album and retail album categories, achieving a double crown.
In particular, the title track 'OVERDRIVE' is gaining attention with its 'Angtal Challenge.' This challenge consists of cute moves matching the lyrics "Umm" and is called an 'idol must-do challenge.' It quickly spread on short-form platforms, and many singers and actors followed the choreography at various events such as fan signings, drawing significant attention.
'OVERDRIVE' is also showing an upward trend on music charts. The song ranked first on Instagram's 'Reels Rising Audio' chart and entered the Melon daily chart for the first time on October 27, climbing to 96th on the 28th, 92nd on the 29th, and 91st on the 30th.
TWS is scheduled to perform 'OVERDRIVE' on MBC's 'Show! Music Core' on November 1. On that broadcast, fixed MC Dohoon and special MC Youngjae will appear together. TWS's activities are expected to continue going forward.
